Is scary. i don't know if any of you have gone through it before, but updating the passbook sure is stressful.
Feeding the passbook into the slim slot, i wait in unsettling fear of what is to be printed on the book.
Then as the machine returns the book to me with a mechanical beep, i squeeze my eyes shut, not daring to see what has been printed onto the book, knowing and fearing the worst.
And finally, when i do, i cringe inwardly at the dwindling numbers, and try furiously to remember where each row of numbers under the "withdrawals" column has gone to, at the same time ekeing out reasons to justify every withdrawal.
I don't know about you, but much of the numbers under the "Withdrawals" column has translated into items on my dressing tabletop and my wardrobe.
If only 1 million bucks would magically appear under the deposit column.
I would be the happiest girl on earth.
